It all started when we went on holiday to Sri Lanka for three weeks. After staying in my grandparents' houses for a week my dad said to understand how hard life is for kids in Sri Lanka and how my sister and I were living happily. Therefore, they sent us to a less fortunate school. [ He knew how difficult it was as my dad was born in Sri Lanka ]
The school day
The next day, we went to school. My sister taught the highest grade of English while I attended school in year 3. My dad's friend, who was a teacher, took me to the year 3 class. On the way she took my sister and me to the principal, we had a nice chat and left. Finally, I got to third grade.

Difference
When I entered the classroom, it was not what I expected. The chairs were so tiny that only toddlers could sit there comfortably. And there weren’t separate classrooms, there were just big boards in a long hall. The walls were rough and there weren’t even doors. But even though the kids didn’t have much they were still very happy.
When we were doing our work she took a workbook and gave me some work. When I had to do some drawings of animals, a teacher walked in. “OH MY GOD,” he said. “Look how amazing these drawings are”. He began to explain and compare how good mine was to theirs. The children even gave me a clap. I was in another world.

An arty treat
At the end of the day, the teacher showed us how to make flowers out of paper and we all made a flower. In the end, they all gave it to me. After that then I had to leave. Oh well, at least I had a great time.
